YECSI - Hate Crimes Prevention and Response Program

Program Summary: The YECSI - Hate Crimes Prevention and Response Program focuses on combating hate crimes in San Bernardino County through community-based strategies. The program works to increase awareness, improve victim support, and enhance law enforcement responses to hate crimes.

Key Components:

• Community Outreach and Education: Educational campaigns and workshops to raise awareness about hate crimes.

• Victim Support and Reporting: Confidential reporting systems and immediate resources for victims.

• Training: Programs for law enforcement and community organizations on recognizing and responding to hate crimes.

YECSI - Inclusive Schools and Community Safety Initiative

The Inclusive Schools and Community Safety Initiative (ISCSI) is a comprehensive program focused on creating inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environments in schools. ISCSI aims to reform disciplinary policies, reduce reliance on law enforcement in handling school-based incidents, and provide students with disabilities and marginalized backgrounds with the support they need to succeed. This initiative works directly with educators, administrators, and community members to foster school climates that prioritize student well-being, restorative practices, and compassionate, effective responses to student behavior.

Key Components

• Training and Professional Development: Provides trauma-informed, disability-sensitive training for educators, administrators, and school-based security personnel to equip them with effective, supportive strategies for managing behavior and fostering inclusivity.

• Behavioral Support Teams: Establishes or enhances on-site teams of counselors, social workers, and special education experts to address behavioral and emotional challenges with appropriate interventions, reducing disciplinary referrals.

• Community and Family Engagement: Involves families, community advocates, and local organizations through advisory committees and workshops, ensuring that family voices and community concerns shape school policies.
